The NSW Independent Liquor & Gaming Authority (ILGA) publishes guidelines on its website to inform and provide guidance to stakeholders about ILGA’s processes and factors the Authority considers when making decisions.
ILGA proposes to introduce a new guideline about its approach to determining applications made under sections 19 and 25 of the Gaming Machines Act 2001, which deal with the transfer and lease of Gaming Machine Entitlements (GMEs).
The proposed guideline explains the regulatory framework which underpins ILGA’s decision-making in this area, to ensure applicants are better informed when they draft their applications.
Further, the guideline notes ILGA will consider more favourably applications which align with NSW Government policy in terms of:
- Forfeiture of GMEs
- Transfer of GMEs from higher risk Local Statistical Areas (LSAs) to comparatively lower risk LSAs
ILGA invites feedback on the proposed new guideline which is available at Draft ILGA Sourcing Guideline for Feedback.
To make a submission, please email feedback to guideline.feedback@ilga.nsw.gov.au by 4pm on Monday 8 December 2025.
